Arc Flash Required

When is an Arc Flash Study Required

August 27, 20241 min read

Why:

Osha Requires workplaces to protect employees from electrical hazards by providing warning labels, PPE, and Trainings.

When:

Facilities that have electrical equipment that is >208V like large generators and dedicated utility services, or perform maintenance while energized, will need an Electrical Engineer to create custom labels, trainings, and PPE recommendations for them.

What:

Common facilities that are >208V or require Energized maintenance:

  • Hospitals & Healthcare Facilities

  • Data Centers

  • Offices and Residential towers

  • Schools and Universities

  • Industrial Facilities

  • Solar and Wind Farms

How often:

The NFPA requires arc flash studies to be updated every 5 years, or after any changes to the utilities.

Trainings are recommended to be renewed every 3 years (when the code is updated).
